Reading through the information about how your water is treated might lead you to believe we’ve been invaded by little green men from outer space.

Semi-permeable membranes. Distillation contaminants. Herbicides. Ten parts per million. Carbon filtration. Ozone oxidation. UV light sterilizer. Recirculation. Trihalomethanes.

Egad! Grab the children and head for the cellar; the invasion is underway.

But fear not, good citizens! We are not under alien attack. These words and phrases describe a process of water purification that ensures you’re getting the healthiest and most refreshing bottled water on the planet. We at Pumpd Water put our water through a multi-phased process that provides you with 99.9 percent purity.

How Is Water Purified?

TO DISTILL OR NOT TO DISTILL

Distillation is a process by which water is boiled and the steam is collected leaving behind the contaminants. However, distilled water still may contain contaminants from pesticides and herbicides, which also have high boiling levels. Water purification works to bring pesticide and herbicide levels to less than 10 parts per million.

Our water at Pumpd Water is drawn from the Floridan Aquifer, which passes through activated carbon filtration to remove chlorine and Trihalomethanes (chemical compounds in which halogen atoms replace three of the four hydrogen atoms).  Many Trihalomethanes are used as solvents or refrigerants.

The water then passes through a softener to extract heavy minerals such as sodium and magnesium. Once completed, the water moves through several micron filters that remove bacteria and harmful microbes.

A UV light sterilizer provides more intense disinfection of the water as it moves toward the process of reverse osmosis, a semi-permeable membrane that allows passage of only water molecules. The earlier processes help ensure reverse osmosis runs smoothly, swiftly and thoroughly.

Following these stages, the purified water goes to the ozone oxidization tank, which provides additional purification without chemicals. Ozone doesn’t stay in the water following purification. The water is continuously circulated through the ozone tank until bottles are available for filling.

Our Combi-Block machines – which blow, fill and cap the bottles – are contained all in one sterile room, which eliminates the possibility for contamination.
